We stored our Christmas Tree in a refrigerator box...so after the tree found it's happy home in our living play time began. First it was the cave, then a bean bag toss and now the shape game. Daddy cut tons of shapes and we either pick a shape to throw the bean bag (specially made robot bean bags designed by Cookie) or we put the pre cut shape back in the spot to "punch out". Daddy colored the tops of all of the shapes so that Drex could fit the shapes back together and know which way was the top.

We had play group at our house with Dayne Smith, Chloe Brown, Ella Hagan and Drex and they played almost the entire time in the "Cave". Who knew a fridge box, bean bags and flashlights could keep 2 year olds so busy. Great idea Dad.

Big ol Turkey!

We had a coupon for a free Turkey when you spend $100. When we got the turkey I realized I had never cooked a turkey. We were going to save it for Thanksgiving however we found out that it wouldn't fit in our freezer. Minor detail...so "TO THE WEB". Drex and I stuffed the turkey with lemons and onions and basted our big ol turkey (as Drex called it) and waited. It actually turned out very yummy. We got sick of the turkey and wasted half of it, but it was fun to cook and it looked so great.

Sandy Aquarium

We renewed our membership at our little Aquarium in Sandy, UT. We have so much fun coming and looking at all of the animals and exploring all of the new exhibits. Here is Drex and Zoe watching the Penguins.

Drex liked touching the Sting Rays. One of them came about half way out of the water and Drex reached his hand and gave him a big rub. He said, "Wow he is really soft". Across the touch take a Dad was trying to get his little girl to touch the Sting Ray. He reached her hand in and had her touched the Sting Ray and the little girl screamed so loud. It was pretty funny.

Our lesson for family night was about being a good listener. I asked Drex "What does it mean to be a good listener?" Drex replied..."I get a sucker". Well at least he knows that it is something that results in a prize...We love our little cutie.

Ward Halloween Party

We had a great time at the Western Springs 1st Ward Halloween Party. The youth manned the rooms with kid games. There was a bean bag toss, cupcake walk, marshmallow shooter, nerf shooter game and a photo booth.

Well, George the monkey didn't even make it in the door...poor tired guy fell asleep on the way into the party. Lots of Halloween parties makes for a sleepy boy.

Planet Play with Cousins

Tami and I shoved 5 carseats in her van and headed to Planet Play. Let's just say it was a very very tight squeeze; However, well worth the squeeze. For UEA weekend Planet Play uploaded $10 worth of tickets to play the arcades, mini golf, tiny bowling etc.onto any old cards you had. We each brought in 4 cards and the dear sweet teeny bopper loaded them up. A great day. Skyler and Drex had lots of fun playing air hockey together.

Angry Birds Live

Today for our activity we made a live version of Angry Birds. We used pom poms, googly eyes, paper and Dixie cups...who know you could entertain a 2 year old for so long. I found the idea on Pinterest and I am very glad I did. We had so much fun. This game will definitely get some use...

The "Other Bats"

We were at Target and I was pointing out the Halloween Bat's that were hanging from the ceiling for the Halloween decor. Drex kept saying "where are the other bats?" I thought he wanted to see more of the Halloween bats so we went down another aisle and I pointed out more of the hanging bats. About 20 minutes later we past through the sporting good section and he pointed to the baseball bats and said "I found the other bats". I was laughing so hard!

Cornbelly's 2011

Nothing says fall like Cornbelly's. Thanksgiving Point does a fabulous fall fun adventure from wooden boat/Trucks and jumping bubble to pig races, corn maze and cotton candy. We had a great time chasing Drex around to all of the different activities. You wouldn't know it was fall by the weather... it was so warm the day we went. Pancake Art

Here is our work of art...Drex picked the colors for our pancake batter (red and green)and it inspired some Christmas pancakes. I have so many memories of my Dad making pancakes shaped as our names, mickey mouse etc. I loved to eat the shaped pancakes. We are always trying to be creative to help Drex eat...well, it worked wonders. Brian even made a hot dog one...Drex loved it!

The Healing Field- 9/11 Memorial

The Healing Field is a memorial for 9/11 located in the Sandy Civic Center. They place a flag for every person who died in the 9/11 tragedy. On each flag the name of the person along with a little bio about them was typed on a card. It was so amazing and humbling to see the field of flags. It is sad that it took a tragedy like 9/11 to bring us closer to God and closer as a country.
I was in the MTC when 9/11 happened. It was interesting to hear about it through letters and Spanish news when I arrived in Venezuela two weeks later. I don't think I will ever comprehend the impact that 9/11 had on this country.
On Sunday we watch a special about 9/11 documenting some of the personal stories and tragedy. Also included in the special were numerous accounts of families that avoided the crash. One family was on vacation and was scheduled to visit the World Trade center that morning. The family said that they slept in and woke up to the news of the crash. This was the first and only time that the Dad had ever slept in pass his alarm. What a blessing for this sweet little family. They had other amazing stories of Parents who worked in the World Trade Center calling in sick to work, or just feeling that they should stay home from work or go in late. Wow, what a day to remember.

Here is a cute picture of my best helper. Drex wanted to help clean out the pantry...He rummaged through all the crackers and treats and helped himself. After he was full (which ment only a few nibbles) he looked up to me and said "Mom you're so Adorable"...wow moments like this really make my day. Thanks Drex...I love you. P.S. Week one of Potty Training so that is why he is only in underwear. He is doing great.

Craft Room upgrade stage 1

When you buy a desk off KSL and tell your wonderful hubby that we only have to cut one stud out to make it fit....you might want to make sure that it really only is one stud. Well, yes the desk was too big and after cutting out 3 studs and the baseboard, it fit!!! Brian was a champ and sqeezed this great desk into my crap hole...The remodel has begun...

Baby Zoe is almost four months old. Wow, this round time really does fly. She is such a wonderful baby. Drex started calling her Baby Zo but started saying it really fast...it turned into beso which means kiss in spanish. So we starting calling her our little beso. She is a delight in our lives. We are so greatful for two healthy and darling kids. PS Babe, it is not a poinsettia plant on her head...it is a cute little flower.

We spent the Labor day weekend camping up American Fork Canyon. We went to Little Mill campgrounds. They were great little camping sites right by the rushing little river and the beautiful mountains. We met up with a some friends and had a great time.

We were playing hide and seek and this picture is the turn that won it all. Brian put Drex on top of the pantry...It was so funny. The person hiding (me or Brian) had to hide with Drex. So the turns went quickly. Drex and I actually hit the longest...we were laying down at the bottom of the stairs- it took Brian forever to find us! Yes we are just big kids playing with our little kids.

Shed Progress...

A big THANKS to Jared, James, Ben, Tami and kids for helping us with the shed. We had a fun day playing outside and working on the shed. Only a few casualties: Jared got a good hit to the head by a falling 2x4, Brian got heat exhaustion, and the kids looked a little too pink. Other than that the boys got all the walls up and the fiber cement nailed on all in a days work!

First Day of Summer

I didn't think that it would literally take until the first day of summer to warm up. I am so glad it finally did. Brian finished our fence in the back yard and I am in heaven. We were getting stir crazy inside, so it is perfect timing.

We cleaned out the hot tub and got it up and running. We got our hot tub at a garage sale about 3 years ago and it has been a great addition. We are surprised each year when it starts right up. Just as we are surprised the good old 1994 explorer keeps running! (the same car I have driven since I was 16 years old-Thanks Mom and Dad)

Free McDonalds for 1 year!!

I saw a sign posted at the new McDonalds building saying "April 8th, first 100 adults in line at 6am will win free McDonalds for 1 year (1 meal per week). I thought, this is a perfect adventure for Brian.

Thursday morning we woke up and Brian grabbed a sleeping bag and sleeping pad. I talked to him around lunch time and it had started to snow. I got the tent down with some extra blankets for him. Then it really started to snow. So I drove over to the site to check out the competition. There were only about 6 tents and a trailer.

I waited until about 6pm and went for another stake out. This time there was a list circulating...A list of the 100 people who would get the golden tickets. Once Your name was on the list you had to stay in the parking lot. The guy in charge said we could sleep in the car since it was snowing. So I asked him if I could make a quick stop at home to get supplies. He said yes...so I grabbed blankets, sippy cups, snacks and diapers and headed back.

Yes Brian, Drex (2 years old) and I slept in the car, in the snow, and awoke to a rewarding punch card for 52 free meals to McDonalds. Living the good life. An adventure to remember.

Sweet Sixteen: Go Cougars!!

Congrats to a great season for the BYU Cougar's basketball team. We had so much fun at the games and watching their great season. Drex is in love with Jimmer Fredette. He yells "You got Jimmered" at the games. Thank you grandma for letting us come to so many games with you. These are memories we will have forever.

When Brian yells at the refs or a bad call, Drex is right along side standing up waving his arm yelling "BOOO" "Bad Call". This made me laugh every time.

Drex requests the fight song for his bedtime song, and yes he knows all the words. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...like daddy like son.

We all got together for a fun night of bowling. This was our last hang our with our nephew Zach, he is headed on a mission to San Juan Puerto Rico. We had the whole Larson gang there to celebrate. Drex absolutely loved bowling.

Drex decided that the ramp was not for him. So he picked up is orange 6lb ball and carried it over to the lane and chucked it. It went a zooming 1 mph. He was jumping up and down the whole way. It was still funny every time he went.

Drex was playing with a pack of Astronomy & Planet flashcards. He picked out a card that had an asteroid on it. He looked up at me and said "Baby sister"...I was puzzled. So I asked him about this mysterious connection and he walked me over to the fridge and pointed to the ultrasound picture and repeated "Baby Sister". I laughed so hard. What a cleaver boy!

SWEET Candy Company Factory Tour

We took a tour of the Candy Factory. I am a big fan of tours and fun field trips. We walked through the factory and learned how they made taffy, chocolate, sour balls and much more. Drex loved the samples the best.

Christmas Round 1

We gathered together at Jen's house in San Diego for Thanksgiving. So on Thanksgiving day we went to Disneyland, the next day we had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner and then woke up Saturday morning and had a yummy "Christmas" breakfast and exchanged presents, with cute matchy PJ's for the little boys. It was a really busy and fun Thanksgiving break.

Disneyland 2010

For Thanksgiving this year we met at Disneyland. My parent, sister Jen and her family, sister Emily, Brother Scott and his wife Missy and our little family all were able to go. We had so much fun. Drex loved the Dumbo ride. Earlier in the year we all volunteered in our local communities and earned Disneyland day passes. It was a great Thanksgiving!

Morning Sickness...

Halloween

Trick or Treat...
Since Halloween fell on Sunday this year the great people of Utah decided to go trick or treating on Saturday. This was new idea for me. I remember one year growing up when Halloween fell on Sunday. We put up this dark blue blanket, the one with the rainbow on it, over the windows, turned out most of the lights and played games as a family in the back room. I remember my parents bought us lots of candy and we had a fun night. Thanks Mom and Dad!

This year Drex was all about the candy. Our little sugar baby caught on quick the tradition of going door to door and getting treats. He carried his Frankenstein candy bucket slowly but surely to each door. It took us a while. Luckily the rain let up for a bit and we made it down one street. He was the cutest, warmest little monkey!

We then went over to my friend Leslie's house for chili and doughnuts. And to get us in the mood, yesterday Leslie and I made the cutest mummy pizza's from Rhodes rolls. Enjoy...

Wheeler Farm

Pumpkin Drop 2010

KBull 93 has a contest that was too good to pass up. There were about 25 contestants all dressed up. They climbed up the 80 foot water tower and dropped pumpkins into a washing

machine!! There was an old car that they cut a hole in the roof. Each contestant took up a pumpkin and tried to shoot the pumpkin in the hole.

Brian tied for 2nd so the next round each player tried to drop the pumpkin into a washing machine that was attached to the front of the car. If this didn't get you in the mood for Halloween, I don't know what will.

Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point

Thanksgiving Point does a great job with their Halloween Fun. Cornbelly's is great for little kids too. Drex loved the little train ride and the trampoline bubble thing. Good thing we are still a bunch of kids, because we loved it.

The pig racing was pretty funny to watch. Drex cheered for the pigs and was so excited. The cotton candy was a must. Drex was all worn out and fell asleep in Brian's arms in the corn maze. A fun day with the family

Go Cougars!

We were so excited to go to the game. We had to park and walk quite a distance. We were hustling to get to the game on time. In the rush, we got to the gate and my tickets that were tucked safely into my back pocket were not so safe. The tickets fell out in the rush.

Brian back tracked our route to look for the tickets and no luck. He saw a cop, if you can call the BYU rent-a-cops a cop, and asked him if any tickets were turned in. He said yes...Brian told him what seats they were (thank goodness he remembered) and the cop returned them to us. I love Utah...thank you to the people who turned in our tickets!

And yes we are bright red because it was so hot. We ended up leaving early because all of our drinks and snacks were gone and we were sweating to death...poor Drex. We would not have made very good pioneers.

Utah State Fair

The end of summer has come and gone as we begin into the fall season. With the chill in the air, the fairs begin. I love the atmosphere of fairs. So much going on. Drex loved all of the animals, especially the big cows and petting the sheep.

There was also a Sea Lion show...yep we are still in Utah. They had this huge pool and did a mini Sea World Sea Lion show. It was definitely fun. Drex also loved all of the tractors and cars you could play on. This hummer actually a go cart!

We had a great hike on Labor day through the Unitas. It was absolutely beautiful. Drex loves being in the backpack. He actually fell asleep most of the hike. We live in such a beautiful place!

Aunt Tracy and her kids Liz, Mary, James and Anna volunteered at This is the Place Monument as Pioneers this summer. Drex and I went to visit and learn about the Pioneers and the History our our ancestors. It was a very fun and hot day. There was a little train we rode as well as pony rides.

Kennecott Copper Mine

July 17th, 2010 We took our little family on a tour of the Kennecott Copper Mine. went with Tami and Ben and the kids. Here are some interesting facts and fun pictures:

Race for the Cure 5k

These are some pictures of us in action at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K in Salt Lake on May 9, 2009. We bundled up Drex and headed out with our pink capes. These capes were one of the giveaways, Brian's favorite part, and were fun to wear as we ran. We even tied one on to the carseat so Drex could feel like a super hero too.

Speaking of Super Heroes, we want to send our love to Mom and Nana. We are so glad that you two are stubborn and fought and won the cancer. Mom, you are such an inspiration to so many. You have sacrificed so much for our family and we are so glad to be able to spend time with you. Thanks for being a fighter and teaching us to never give up. We love you.

Here are some new pictures. Our little man is now 4 months old and learning new tricks. Sitting up in the bumbo seat is pretty cute. Drex is even laughing out loud, which makes us laugh pretty hard. He is rolling over and hates to be put down-which is why our blog is rarly updated. We did get a pretty intense exersaucer which gives me about 15 minutes of freedom. Worth every penny. Just keep reminding me it gets easier.

We were all sitting on the couch and Brian put his foot next to Drex...we thought this was pretty funny. We are all doing well. Nap time during the day is a little tricky...he likes to wake up after every 20 minutes??? Drex has a hard time going back to sleep...but we are working on it. Any suggestions please LMK. I think it is just the fact that he is a baby!! till next time

Our first walk...

Today was so warm and sunny (warm being 45 degrees) so we decided to take a walk. It is a little bit windy out here in Riverton so we have been practicing. We go outside just for a minute to get Drex use to the great outdoors, usally meaning our front steps.

We made it around the block and over to our friends Amy and Jeff Trimble's house. This was definitely a big step. I put Drex in the front pack and we headed out. He did have a little blanket with a hood (thank you Jen) that helped block the wind. He still didn't love the wind and struggled with gulping air, but he did get better and even fell asleep. This was a great day for me to get out and catch some much needed rays. until next time...xoxo

February 15, 2009...This was a very memorable day in our lives. We had family and friends come into town to help us celebrate the day we blessed Drex O'Neill Larson. He was dressed in an adorable blessing outfit that Cookie gave him. She made a few adjustments to help the little outfit fit. Drex wore the cutest light blue leather booties that were his Uncle Scott's when he was just a little baby. Thanks Scott for donating your shoes!! We had everyone come over after the blessing and we hung out and ate lots of yummy food. more pics to come...

seven weeks and counting. I am so amazed how much this little baby changes everyday. Drex is smiling more and more and it is one of the most precious sites ever. his little smile makes me so happy. i can't believe how rewarding it is to see him responding to us. i love this picture of my two favorite boys dreaming away. it is moments like this that make it all worth it.
good news...we just found out that my sister Jen is having another boy. we are so excited Drex will have a boy cousin so close in age. we are working on a soccer team! congrats Jen we love you.

One Month old...

Wow I can't believe that Drex is 5 weeks old. As you can tell from the carseat shots...he really is growing. Some days I think he looks so big and other days he looks so tine. I guess it is really based on perspective; yesterday we were at Tami's (Brian's sister) house visiting with Drex's new cousin Kenzi. She was born on February 1st and right now she is about 5lbs 13 oz. Yes she made Drex look big. Then we were at church on Sunday and compared to all of the toddlers running around, he looked so tiny. It is crazy how much these little ones change.

I also want to put in a plug for our new miracle movie..."The Happiest Baby on the Block". This video changed our lives. It is a video to teach you techniques on how to calm your baby. Yes after just a 2 days he was sleeping 6+ hours at night. YAHOOOO and last night he slept 8 consecutive hours. I definately can survive if I can get a few nights a week like that. Wow I am a much happier person today. Check this video out as soon as you can. take care

Here is a cute picture with Drex and his Cookie (my mom) and his Nana. It was so much fun having mom out here for the birth of Drex. She has so much experience it was nice to have her here. She is my life line...I call her 5 times a day for questions about the baby. Once a mom always a mom...when you are done raising your own kids you become the guru and support system for your kids/grandkids. Thank you mom for all of your help and love. It takes a family to raise a child...the whole family.

It was fun to have Scott and Nana come for a visit. Drex loved Nana's voice and was calm as can be. She is the baby wisperer!

Two weeks old...

Well this cute little boy is two weeks old. I can't believe that we have had Drex in our lives for two weeks now. These days seem kinda like a blur...adjusting to this new sleep schedule is a little rough on us all. Things are getting better and we are all doing well regardless. We had our two week check up Doctor's appointment and Drex is doing well...he is now a weighing in at 7.7 lbs. Life is good.
